Join us for one of our upcoming in-person professional learning opportunities.
Join us for the Foundations of Practice-Based Teacher Education workshop, a two-and-a-half-day in-person event that provides a comprehensive introduction to the foundational ideas and skills of practice-based teacher education and equips participants with the tools and strategies needed to design or redesign instructional activities in their own courses or programs.
Already have some experience with practice-based teacher education and looking to keep growing your skills? Join us for this one-and-a-half-day in-person event geared to teacher educators interested in continuing to develop skill with practice-based pedagogies. We will build on the Foundations of Practice-Based Teacher Education Workshop by digging more deeply into several powerful pedagogies of teacher education, including using videos and transcripts to introduce and help teacher candidates practice practice.
Join us for a week-long Elementary Mathematics Laboratory (EML) that uses live elementary mathematics instruction to explore the complexity of teaching and investigate and challenge what it means to use skillful teaching to disrupt patterns of injustice. Together we’ll unpack instructional decisions, examine mathematics content, and interrogate issues of equity in classrooms to explore how to engage students in mathematics in ways that value their thinking, broaden their ideas of what it means to do mathematics, and advance justice in classrooms.
If you are responsible for designing a course inside a teacher education program—or even an entire program—you should join us for the Backwards Design Institute for Teacher Educators. In this focused, one-and-a-half-day event, we will apply the tenets of backwards design to teacher education to explore how teacher educators can develop a clear, shared vision of what teacher candidates will learn to do in their programs and how to use that vision to shape their courses.
